October: The Month of the Rosary

If you haven’t been praying the rosary, October is a great time to start.  It is the month of the holy rosary.  In last year’s post on the month of the rosary, I described the victory at the Battle of Lepanto.  Praying the rosary also contributed to the victory over the Albigensian heretics at the battle of Muret in 1213.

In the Catholic Church, the holy rosary is considered a weapon against evil (if you follow this link, be sure to read Protected by the Rosary).  The rosary is a powerful weapon, too.  For each Hail Mary you pray, it is as if you are physically punching Satan.  If you find yourself in a fight against evil, grab your rosary and start praying.  It is also like having a shield, protection against evil.

Lepanto, Muret, and World War I:  During the first apparition at Fatima, our Blessed Mother told Lucia, Francesco, and Jacinta to “Pray the Rosary every day to obtain peace for the world and the end of the war.”

At the last apparition at Fatima, the Blessed Virgin Mary introduced herself to the shepherd children, saying, “I am the Lady of the Rosary,” and she asked them to “Continue to pray the Rosary every day.”

If the rosary is this important to Our Lady, the Mother of God, we should pray it every day as she desires.
